Tangled In-the-net!

By PourNoCoffee...

It's always about the children! Have you realized that? Campaign against smoking, drug-use, alcohol consumption etc., have all been in one way or another, aimed at protecting the children. If pornography does not harm the children, I don't think it would render as much attention. Unfortunately, pornography is down with two strikes. Not only is the ease of availability stirring a hurricane, but the cause for concern is the sexual abuse of the children.

Sen. Mark Pryor mentioned that there's not been strong effort public relations campaign the likes of smoking and drug-use, against pornography and child predators. I find that it's a very subjective and even sensitive issue to be campaigning against. Yes, it can possibly be done on child pornography but not on mainstream porn. We are well aware of the physical health hazards concerned with smoking and drug-use. Everyone agrees that the two forementioned activities have an effect on the society. It is medically proven. As for the effects of pornography, there is no scientific/medical evidence that the physical state of health is at risk. So, to start a big-scale campaign against pornography based on societal values and ethics is just not going to work.

To combat child pornography on the internet involves the global community as a whole. Single efforts cannot sever the far-reaching hands of the internet. In order to effectively take down child pornographers, the global community must be working on the same page. Obviously this is easier said than done. Cultural or governmental differences sometimes makes it difficult to even be on the same book, much less the same page!

The problem with the internet is that information is relayed too fast! (I must be nuts to be saying this as each time I'm willing it to go faster). The conventional mails can be intercepted by the postal offices, and it takes at least a few days to reach the recipients. As for the internet, the blink of an eye is all it takes to reach every deep corner of the world. Imagine if you have to physically duplicate gazillion hard copies of child porn, seal and mail them out. I'll have to file for Chapter 11 before I even get pass New York State.

There is nothing wrong with PEER sex at any age. But the desire of a mature person to have sex with a physically immature person is a sickness and is rightly declared a crime in our society. If kids were helped to have safe sex without consequences other than joy, they would avoid diverting, perverting, into sick lusts.

Might it not be an altogether pointless idea to address the cause at the same time that we address the symptoms?

I agree that it’s more informative to educate rather than to avoid. But with the burst of cyberporn and teens easily accessing such materials, in a way it becomes conflicting a decision to teach them about sex, or place them in a bubble, until what we deem a proper age.

You mentioned about joy, in which the definition can vary from one to another. Child predators may find their crime to be enjoyable. Seriously speaking, I do not foresee a total eradication of child predators. We just need to step up ways to protect our children. Pleasantville does not exist in reality nor will it survive.

I finally got round to checking here again. Sorry for the delay.

You say “…until we deem a proper age…”

I think the proper age for a child to have sex with another child of the same age is when the child desires to have it. IT is the same time as the short and curly hairs appear.

I did not want sex at age 10.

At age 11 I suddenly started to get a funny feeling about the two prettiest girls in class.

Frustration (including my being put in an all-boy school) at 12 did me no good at all, and an awful lot of harm.

I do not disagree with anything else you said.

I have a post which includes the subject on my cyquick.wordpress.com

    Cheers, Cy

    PS

I was off line from 18 April for 6 weeks. I moved flat and the cable man was very busy. That did not help.
